Hi guys, I’m an accountant working in the UK over 3 years of experience. I have one paper left to qualify as a Chartred Accountant. I’m currently planning to move to USA and obtain CPA. If anyone is currently doing CPA or have already qualified please advise how it works and detail insight such as how many modules there are? How long is the training period? How much will be the initial salary? Etc. Your advise will be much appreciated.

Hi mate. I finished and certified for ACA in UK and moved to US in March last year.
For CPA they have 4 exams altogether that are very condensed large amount of knowledge. and you have to start from the beginning as they don’t accept any ACA module.
As far as “training” period goes, you need 3 years of experience to be certified here. Once you pass one exam, you have to pass the rest three within a 18month period or you’ll start all over again. Good luck

They will be placing them with those clients and then managing them. Are there any roles like this out there in the ecosystem or that maybe some of you are currently in? What kind of job title do you have if you are in a role like this? This is a brand new role for us and uncharted territory haha

Anyone else super unimpressed with administrative support with a new firm after lateraling? I told a partner I’d just take care of a routine task myself. He told me my rate is too high and to use a “project manager” (basically an intern they can pay less than a paralegal). We have a 40 person group and 3 project managers making starvation wages. Big firm. You’d know the name.

I feel like every company lies about “working your way up.” You’re never allowed to blatantly say that you don’t like your position and you’d like to transition to HR or Finance. It’s almost as if once you get in claims, you’re stuck.

If you’re a manager and you see an employee that wants to branch out into a different department, why would you keep them boxed in for 2+ years?

Are there some background mechanics that I’m missing?
