Lower. Salaries in London are a fraction of a NY salary. We don’t have cost of living factored in at all. Not sure what an equivalent company would pay. Part of the problem is the inconsistency in levels. What does Manager in your world mean? For us, it might be 4-5y experience. In yours, it might be 8-10.
I'm from the US and moved to the UK (dual national).
If you need any help or more advice DM me (minus stuff about visas).
Your biggest issue is the visa. Following brexit it’s even more difficult to get sponsored. Plus mid-level career wise are two a penny here so for the sponsor they have to prove why they should employ you over a lot of other same experience level people. It will be near on impossible to make the move without an inter-company transfer or dual nationality.
Also on the salary, it’s cheaper to live in London than NYC - groceries, utilities and entertainment. Apartments without room mates - if you are willing to live in the equivalent of Brooklyn/ LIC or JC you can get a decent sized place for the same you’d pay to live with roomies! Hope that helps.
I hear you on the visa part - been at this for months now and that is 100% my main issue. The company I work for is being very resistant on a transfer as well - but I’m working that angle hard, I know it’s still my best bet. Thanks, definitely helpful!
