Former big 4. MBB hours definitely worse on average
I think pressure to perform and stress levels are higher too
It’s up or out and you’re competing with very capable people for a position at the firm. WLB will be driven by what you need to do to stay above the median level of performance, if you’re serious about it. If you’re not I wouldn’t recommend it as most people are quite serious about it and it’s won’t end up being a great place for you psychologically.
My experience has been working on average 60-65 hours.
This means some 70-75 hours weeks, and some 55 hours weeks too
Yeah its not just the quantity of hours but rather quality. Both aspects of the job are extremely demanding, and are only made worse by travel, extremely bright colleagues who set very high standards, and the challenging client problems.
Sounds like hell
I am having fun. Definitely working a couple more hours here than my last industry job, but I have no regrets.
More hours. More intense.
I’ve had cases where I’m 50-55 most weeks and cases where I’m 65+ most weeks. Median is probably 60-65/week for me, working about 9-5 on Friday (typical Bain NA culture) so majority of hours concentrated from M-Th.
