I live in Chicago and almost always have a poor experience with United. Definitely recommend AA
Downfall of United in Chicago is upgrade odds suck as does their award program.
Pro
NYC here and only fly delta - just a better experience.
United Airlines I would say is a fantastic airline
Where you’re based should be the #1 consideration for your airline of choice, with frequent destinations (i.e., what industry you work in) as a close second.

I definitely have stockholm syndrome from living in a UA held city, but the UA stroopwafels + illy black coffee hit the spot for me
You’re NYC - stick to United.
But also for future reference, you absolutely will not be able to justify a 2x flight (assuming that difference is >$200) without having clear reasons from the justification options that D Trips prompts at checkout: e.g. decreases travel time by more than 2 hours
Need more info, which city is this for?
AA runs hourly shuttles LGA-ORD and has more valuable miles imo but delta is the superior airline overall.
You can get dragged out from a plane 😄 I would choose AA over UA.
At least my Manager can pick up my laptop at the destination airport - not a complete lose
Based out of NY Metro so I guess I have plenty of options here
If you’re in NYC and CHI, stick to United.
I've been an AA flyer since the late 90's (back when I was actually flying USAir before AA bought them). I don't love AA but I do like them. I really either have been extremely lucky with flight cancellations or other snafus or they are generally ok. But I agree that it depends on where you're based, that's the main consideration. I used to fly out of DFW a lot, so that's what got me started on AA. Then I was flying out of CLT a lot, still an AA hub.
