Even at big companies, CSR is often a 1-8 person function. Most people move into it later in their careers. Would focus on more general social impact / non profit work, or even just your regular consulting job while being extremely active in D&I / social impact groups.
Hi! It’s tough. I’ve been trying for several months now. My two cents: - brush up on the basic language and frameworks. (i.e., Know what SEER means, etc) - there are a few open source classes online you can take to teach yourself the basics - revamp your resume to highlight CSR-relevant points - network within your company for both internal CSR groups as well as client-facing practitioners who advise on CSR strategy - look into ways to implement internal CSR-type initiatives at your company to boost your resume - and most importantly, network! Go to conferences and events both in your city and across the nation that will facilitate meeting the right people so they can help you get a job and/or teach you what you need to know. Be prepared for the long game ... I’m still trying :)
Because so many people want to be involved, they usually volunteer on a number of initiatives with the same people over and over again. I'm just now bringing on someone to a project that's been volunteering in PRD consistently for 6 months. Also don't expect someone to staff you just bc you think their work is cool. These are usually small teams
