How can I get help making a major financial decision regarding my mortgage? I already tried speaking with my bank but they're not being very helpful clear.

I have autism, so it can be very difficult for me to understand new information / situations I've never experienced. I need every detail explained and obvious things pointed out before I get it.

I lost my job in May and I'm trying to figure out to sell/ forbearance/ try to rent. I'm running out of time.

My biggest issue is not understanding the consequence of forbearance.

I already applied but I turned it down because I did not know what risks I'm opening myself up to or what future consequences I have from this choice.

I do not think im going to get another job to continue paying on the home.

The house is very expensive and a lot of issues were undisclosed. The maintenance /upkeep is much higher than I anticipated.

Ultimately I don't want to live in this home but I do think it was a good investment and will double in value in 10 years

It's a temporary reduction or cessation of your mortgage payments. You'll still accrue interest on the balance, but it gives you cash flow breathing room for a period of time. It will likely cause your credit to take a hit. Can you rent out the house ASAP? Would rent cover the mortgage?

The family members that is living rent free explain to them it want be free anymore. Ask them to pay rent or like you say they will have to move.

Hi team ,

I have started working from jul2019 and I have filed my tax return for 2020 and 2021 tax years.

However I note that there was withholding of some amount in 2017-2018 and 2019 tax years ( withholding from comission received from insurance commission from lic and United india)

I have not filed 2017, 2018, 2019 return as my total income was less than threshold

Is it possible to file return for 2017 , 2018, 2019( all r in refund) now without paying any penalty?

For rent paid below 1 lakh there is no need to submit landlord's PAN. I have calculated based on my HRA and if I show rent paid as around 96k my tax refund will be around 13k.

However there is no rent agreement or rent receipts.

Will it be a problem later on if I show this in my ITR?

I wish I wasn’t adaptable. Humans aspire for a greater level of comfort and once achieved, adopt that as their new baseline. Because of this, somebody making $100k cannot simply comfortably revert back to a $50k lifestyle. The slow growth of personal wealth isn’t noticed as ideated. Instead, we are never satisfied.

How might I start to evaluate whether or not it’s worth it to keep my current primary residence and turn it into a rental, instead of selling and using the cash to roll into the next down payment for our next home? Currently in our “starter home” and thinking to upgrade in a few years. Some figures to consider for current house - 299k purchase price, 240k left on mortgage, could prob rent for 2250-2500/month, or sell for 375k. It’s in a desired school district, but in the “city” tax district.

I'm early in my career, managed to save $30K to invest, and want to get my hands dirty with a rental property without too much risk (e.g. no HML/flipping). It sounds like that's a tall order in the NY/CT area given the prices, not to mention whether I'd be able to get a mortgage on anything below $100K, but I figure I'll give it a shot anyway. Any advice on what you might do in my position? Am I being crazy with this idea?

From a financial standpoint in this market, which would be a better approach in Austin -

1. Buy a ~8-850k house that meets most of our ideal criteria (size, schools, interiors etc) to stay long term

2. Buy a ~5-550k house that’s not ideal with the plan of moving into an ideal home in 4-5 years when kid is ready for school.

How easy is it to get a mortgage for the second home?

Household income - 300k

Anyway I protect myself against the downside risk? (other than loosing my down payment)
