I'm looking for a job... Please help...
I have two years of automotive/aerospace manufacturing experience and am looking for new opportunities. I recently applied to a Solution Engineer - Commercial Manufacturing, Automotive, Energy (MAE) role at Salesforce, and it sounds like a great fit. Is anyone willing to offer me a referral or advice on how to move forward in the hiring process? Salesforce

I agree with Citi 1 and BDO - administrative assistants usually make the bare minimum due to the assumption that you only have a certain amount of years of experience and you haven't supported C-level Execs
My advice is to become a personal assistant or start your own personal assistant business. Virtual administration, that way you can set your own price per hour/client and have control over your own destiny.
I will add that some companies have moved away from using the EA title and stuck with AA title, even thought the AA's support the executives. It's a ploy to pay less money.
Agreed! That EA Title takes hard work to get to, companies should take that into account when recruiting.
Gain progressive experience as an admin assistant and seek opportunities as an executive assistant. I’m not quite to 100k yet but in 3 years have doubled my salary with strategic career moves, internally and externally. In 2020 I was making a base salary of 43k and now I’m making 87k.
Stretch yourself, know your worth, and always embrace change! Best of luck!
Hi could you talk more about moving strategically as an admin person. I feel like I’m at an dead end with lowering paying jobs and satisfying work.
I agree with @Citi 1. You should seek out Executive Assistant positions. Especially those that support Presidents, Partners or CEO/CFOs.
It's a little bit of a long road. Unless your boss is cool and wants to put you under their wing. And that's rare because, to be honest, people are stingy when it come to helping out admins.
Mostly it comes down to business administration training and business educational experience. Check out the site Office Dynamics is a great resource to learn more about how to achieve 6 figure salary. Hope this helps! And good luck!
You'll need to look for Senior EA positions. Most likely you won't make that as an Admin unless you do countless overtime hours
I want to know this as well 🤔
It’s possible. I made over $100k as a legal admin but it did require a lot of overtime. I was let go after our firm merged with a larger one because I was making more than the office manager
Work for multiple companies at the same time? I was an admin assist for many years, most I ever made was 50K.
I’m in year 3 and making 55k…. So I think it’s possible but probably hard 🤷🏻♀️
Tenure and location are key factors.
I think you’d have to support a CEO or someone like that.
I make $70k and I support a national market exec and their 10 direct reports.
Exec is the main support. Travel and scheduling for them and anything else they need. The other 10 it’s mainly some questions and one offs here and there. They get help but not the same hands on level of support.
P&G EA’s make 6 figures if you can take the pressure and bullshit.
Dang I don’t know how you even pass the assessment to get into P&G. I applied there and started their assessment knowing nothing about it but expecting it to test my Microsoft skills etc. Noooopppee! What nonsense was that test that I took? I have 13 years of experience supporting C-level executives but they won’t even interview me because I can’t remember in which order some dots come at me on a screen?
Definitely, think I dodged a bullet failing that test.
Moving into an Exec Assistant is the only way. I'm trying to do the same!
Beyond tenure and essentially being a Senior EA, working for an High Net Worth (HNW) family - essentially take on Personal Assistant duties along with EA duties.
Unfortunately you can’t for you to make 6 figures you will need to move out of the assistant position and become an administrator/ manager yourself
Facts. I'm an EA for a recruiting firm and they fill admin positions at 100k every now and then
What city, how much experience and what industry is that experience in? Big Law Admins can hit $90K before overtime. Overtime is generally available, but less so than in years past.
Capital One is hiring admins in McLean,Va - starting pay is about 83k.
Yeah, tried that. They make you take this horrible test online about scheduling conference rooms. Losing a lot of good candidates with that test. EAs and AAs do a whole lot more than reserve conference rooms.!
I work for a Bank and make $75k. You’d need to be an Executive Assistant to a C Suite or other VIP to make $100k. It’s possible, but some of those folks make crazy demands.
Look at roles in the tech sector / Silicon Valley. Meta, Stripe, Airbnb, etc all pay AAs very well (close to 100k or more).
It is possible in certain markets/industries such as NYC, SF and tech, VC, finance. However I also see 100K + jobs in other markets. I did it by changing jobs every year and only working in industries that paid well. You have to set yourself apart from other candidates . That helps too.
