If you’re white like me it’s so important to realize that we were raised in a society where institutionalized racism is normalized, and we were born with privilege. You can’t choose the color of your skin, but you can choose to put ego aside and reflect on why this isn’t happening to me, and be vocal about being anti-racist.

Your dream life is going to evolve and change, so build it by focusing on what fulfills you now and seeing where that takes you.
I’m in my late 30s and what my dream life looks like has been broken, rebuilt, and dramatically changed several times. Sometimes I feel like I’ve lived 10 lifetimes— dreams were crushed by illness, divorce, loss. I was 27 when I had to leave everything I’d worked hard for behind to escape a violent marriage. I’ve moved across the country twice. I’ve changed careers four times and learned something new every time. My dream looks so different than it did 5, 10, 15 years ago.
There is no finish line, your “dream” will never be done in the sense that you might think now— but that’s the exciting part of life. You’ll accomplish goals that you had set years ago and then immediately look to the next thing, or your priorities or perspective will change with the curve balls life throws at you.
I believe in always looking forward, mostly because what’s behind me is so painful, but if you can take stock in where you are right now, and like who you see when you look in the mirror, the dream will become the journey instead of the destination. Yes, I’m absolutely aware of how cheesy that sounds. Hang in there— you will make “it” happen, whatever “it” looks like to you today, tomorrow, in 5 years.
Understanding the balance between reality and fantasy. Setting achievable goals. Investing your time and energy in value add activities over taking shortcuts for simple gain. Do the work, keep focused, and developing discipline will helps build a strong foundation for success.

I'm currently building mine - mainly because I associate myself with people that already live the life I want and these folks are like my mentors.
You have a long time and a lot of opportunity so focus on what you want now and then you can succeed to reach a higher level.
