How different really is strategy consulting at MBB vs Accenture or a big 4? From what i can tell, it seems like a mostly similar recruitment pool and pay bands.

I ask because I’m doing strategy at Accenture but being recruited by McKinsey (EM level) - my guess is i could maybe make best case 25% higher (mostly via bonus) with maybe double the workload? Does that sound accurate?

Why if you are on H1B is so much problematic for vendors looking for contractors ? Vendors keep on asking to join on W2 rather that Corp to Corp although for employees on H1B we cannot join on W2 due to immigration issues. 🐠, I was laid off from industry during covid and started consulting this year, which was a step back in terms of level and salary. I have received an offer that would allow me to course-correct and advance past where I was before. I like my current firm and have put a lot of effort into making it my new home; however I don’t like my project and am stuck on it. I am terrified of making a move so soon into a role that isn’t a fit or worse, results in another layoff. Appreciate all perspective!

About rolling off my project with no new project opportunity yet.
