So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

When they run a background check they are usually looking into your criminal record. They will also call or have a company call and verify dates of employment for the jobs you have listed on your resume. Therefore if a job is not on your resume they have no way of knowing that info.
That's a good question. I think for the most part future employers won't know about jobs unless you tell them. The IRS may know all the places you work for, but private companies generally can't find that out. So if you only put down one job in a given time period on an application, or on your resume, they may check with that workplace to see if you worked there. But that's about it.
Got it, I was thinking that background checks would show my dates of employment, but I guess that is incorrect. Thanks!
The last background check I did they asked for the companies I worked for and I assumed did a verification of employment and dates on their end. I would say just don’t give them more than one job for a certain time period.
The background check could also be an information check and a financial check. If you work for an insurance company or a financial company it’s usually credit as well as those two. Many insurance companies you have to be bonded with and you have to perform your duty at work and your life in such a way that they are not at a liability. For financial companies many times they do a credit check as well because if you are in trouble financially, you should not be handling other peoples money, at least in their eyes. You are a risk.
