How do you address the specialization dilemma in consulting?

Firm is telling me to choose between data strategy, data engineering, data science, or data management, but we don’t really have a significant amount of projects in any of those to truly specialize and work on one thing only. Also, I don’t have a very strong affinity for one thing specifically. Homegrown consultant here.

Is there one you enjoy the most? I guess I’d start there if you have no other preferences and there is no distinguishable demand differences.

SQL monkey sounds more like a data engineer to me… I personally don’t like building data pipelines. I think you need an affinity for statistics if you go data science if that helps narrow it down for you

Do data engineering and data science then. It’s valuable to have both skill sets later in your career once you want to manage a data team which often includes both.

Hi all, looking for advice.

I'm a technical writer with background in the hardware and healthcare industry. What would be a better option for me, pivoting into software tech writing or project management.

Which one pays better/is better (any advice appreciated, must be fully remote role)

If software tech writing, does anyone have advice on how to break into a role or learn what it takes to become one?

So I have a felony. I interviewed with a recruiter today who was super cheerful and nice. Once I disclosed my felony, which she already knew about since a friend referred me to her, she immediately stopped the interview and said she couldn’t in good faith move forward on my application given the nature of my offense. I explained that I had done my time, paid my fines and restitution and had the experience to become a great asset to the organization. -she suggested I look into bartending.
