How do you arrange your monitor(s) at your home office?
Silly question- but how do you work from home? I could do it in small amounts and with small projects with simple things. But I can’t do any type of excel work or testing on my small laptop. I’m thinking about setting up an office for two screens and a standing desk. Would work reimburse that? (If they are primarily WFH)
Any advise for wrist pinch pain? (Not looking for the surgery route). I also have an ergonomic keyboard.
I’m looking at upgrading my home office chair and investing in one from Herman Miller. Is it really worth that $1000+ price tag or am I just buying into the hype?
If yes, which one is recommended?
What are good excuses to come to and work in the office? (In a country with semi-mandatory home office with exceptions being approved easily by employer)

I caved and bought an Aroma Diffuser from Muji and honestly one of the best purchases I made for my home office. Some of these scents put me at ease when it’s a tough day

I didn't know I was supposed to file taxes in multiple states when I started and honestly thought that I only needed to report the hours associated with my home office for revenue recognition/billing
Any ergonomic chair recommendations?
Good morning, all. I look forward to chatting today. I thought I would open our conversation with a photo of my home office, which has gotten a lot more use in the last two weeks than ever before.
Hey people, I’m looking to get some ergonomic tech for my new job , where they are giving me a MacBook Pro. Does anyone have suggestions for a mouse and an external keyboard? I have a set that I use for my current computer, which is a Lenovo thinkpad, but not sure it will be compatible. I have multiple herniated discs , so trying to be set with my wfh station before starting 🤞
I know I have to look for a job but I really don’t want to. Waiting it out until I can start a new job somewhere else that’s not my cluttered home office.

Hi There - I'm considering a role in consulting. The role is London based and as some of you may know the commute into London by train is significantly expensive (especially compared to my pre-covid commute by car). So that I can properly consider any offers I may get - can you claim expenses generally when travelling to client site, if that client site is also in London (albeit a different part of London to where your home office).
Good morning and welcome to my home office! I've got my coffee and am looking forward to responding to your questions with Zoe and Ron. I was raised by a single parent in upstate NY (far from NYC!). I've had to ask a lot of questions in my career and look forward to hearing yours!
Best home office chair for hardwood floor under $400 with good lumbar support for someone weighing 210lbs? Any recommendations folks?

What are some ways to see if someone is real/genuine friend to you? I have this hot/cold impression of a person but I don’t know if it’s just me over-analyzing or if it’s truly that person that has the problem.

As a junior I find the hardest part of my job is scheduling blocks of time to do the work while also dealing with urgent things that always come up during the day. And the constant inflow of tasks from partners with priorities. It’s soooo exhausting. I kind of wish I had a secretary sort out all competing task deadlines between partners and “urgent” tasks and just schedule it on my calendar. Kind of like a family physician would have. I just want to do the work. How can I make this easier?

3rd year associate looking to make a move after being at my firm for 2 years. I am in ID and unfortunately have not had much experience with dispositive motion practice and I do not have any cases that will see motion practice for quite some time. The bulk of my writing are status reports to the carrier with minimal legal analysis. I’ve done one mediation. What are some examples of writing samples that firms are looking for? How can I turn this negative into a positive? TIA!
Is there a nice way of telling clients you don’t want to give them your cell number? I really want to say absolutely TF not but that’d probably be frowned upon. 😂
Do you have to invite people from your office to your wedding? I work at a very small office with out 12 people total, including staff. The other associate here invited everyone in the office, and their significant others to her wedding. That's a lot of extra money I wasn't intending to spend for people I'm not particularly close to. Anyone else been in a similar situation?
Has anyone left ID, then gone back and then left again? I left ID a year ago to do L&E. I enjoy this area of law a lot, but my firm is mega toxic and there's 0 chance of growth here. I have the opportunity to work with an incredible partner/mentor I worked with when I did ID, but at a different ID firm. I will be given resources and assistance to develop whatever practice area of law I want and the firm wants to expand to employment law. Is this worth the risk of getting stuck in ID again?

For AUSAs / ADAs / Prosecutors - how did you make the transition from Big Law? My two main concerns are: (1) building connections at my current firm and translating those into bridges to a prosecutors office and (2) managing the financial transition. Taking the salary cut and still managing students loans and a standard of living with a family, mortgage, and bills.

Widescreen gamer monitor, no split screen: life changer.
Love my super ultra wide. There is an app you can get for windows called fancy zones that still allows you to snap windows as if you had multiple screens which I highly recommend.
Two monitors: one landscape (usually Outlook, Excel etc) and one portrait (Word). Things like Acrobat can sit in either
This seems like overkill, but quickly made my home office my favorite place to work:
3-external monitors mounted next to each other. Left screen for reference doc 1-2, middle screen for drafting/working on doc, right screen for reference docs 3-4 or email or notes. Laptop open underneath these three monitors to my billables, occasional shift+tab to folders/online doc system.
I haven’t printed virtually anything since I got this set up up and running, and it’s made me insanely efficient at home.
… I asked for a 3rd monitor at work and they looked at me like I had a second head lol
I made the ultrawide swicth and love it. Whatever you get, try before you buy as there are pros and cons to each setup, and YMMV.
I have two external monitors and my laptop open and on a stand in the middle. The laptop is my video camera, so it stays in the middle and serves as my hub for timers, etc while my bigger monitors are for my reference documents and the document I’m actually working on.
