Widescreen gamer monitor, no split screen: life changer.
Love my super ultra wide. There is an app you can get for windows called fancy zones that still allows you to snap windows as if you had multiple screens which I highly recommend.
Pro
Two monitors: one landscape (usually Outlook, Excel etc) and one portrait (Word). Things like Acrobat can sit in either
This seems like overkill, but quickly made my home office my favorite place to work:
3-external monitors mounted next to each other. Left screen for reference doc 1-2, middle screen for drafting/working on doc, right screen for reference docs 3-4 or email or notes. Laptop open underneath these three monitors to my billables, occasional shift+tab to folders/online doc system.
I haven’t printed virtually anything since I got this set up up and running, and it’s made me insanely efficient at home.
… I asked for a 3rd monitor at work and they looked at me like I had a second head lol
I made the ultrawide swicth and love it. Whatever you get, try before you buy as there are pros and cons to each setup, and YMMV.
I have two external monitors and my laptop open and on a stand in the middle. The laptop is my video camera, so it stays in the middle and serves as my hub for timers, etc while my bigger monitors are for my reference documents and the document I’m actually working on.
