I don’t think you should say anything about your disability, discretion is the key. If your performance becomes out of balance then ask for an accommodation. If you get the job you should be able to handle the tasks. You can do all things through Jesus who strengthens you. I told my employer after I was hired that I would need accommodation and they would not oblige. They didn’t even meet my vocational counselor’s recommendation for accommodation. It wasn’t the job for me anyway. Years later I was in a Master’s degree program for Project Leadership and Management and created a proposal for the CEO of the company for automation in his restaurants. It was a continuous process improvement (complete with persuasive research and cost, budget and an analysis. My instructor praised my work. However the project proposal never crossed the CEO’s desk. I wonder how he would respond if he knew what the GM at the restaurant had done to me. Now people walk in to restaurants and place their own orders. However robotic automation on the assembly line and at the pick up window and in the lobby could be useful for all types of reasons and the investment into just one store could have saved $200,000 for the year a least. Maybe I will send it to him, “water under the bridge,” right? Maybe.
I didnt even know you could ask for accommodations for having ADHD, I also didnt know its considered a disability. As someone who has it ive always just done the best I could with what I was given, never needed accommodations, but maybe I should look into it.
Yes we can because we are actually on the spectrum..it's part of Autism just the lowest part. I have ADD ADHD PTSD type 2 diabetes and I had brain surgery last December for spinal fluid leaking ..I was having seizures with my migraines. My last job just wasn't accommodating me so I quit. Hallcon is much better with my disabilities. Plus it's so easy compared to my last jobs. My bosses are actually caring!
I’ve been open from the start. Most times I’ve found that people understand. Really it’s in how you market yourself. Once the offer is on the table then bring the conversation up in a hey I was curious about and then lead the way. Think of it as marketing move. I was taught that by our marketing director who had adhd and ocd, she called it her marketing strategy for herself. Sometimes it can be as simple as asking. I had to ask for several movement breaks and yes I was lucky I had a director who while she may have not understood fully she was supportive and helpful in making sure I had what I needed. Worst thing they say is no. Then you go on and try to adapt to what is needed.
Ok, so if you are asking for an accomodation for the job itself, wait until after the interview. If you need the accomodation for the interview, remember you are not required to disclose anything and remain as nonspecific as possible.
I would not ask during an interview. It may be taken as you will have problems doing the job. You ask for accommodations as an employee. And for those who didn’t know, ADHD is considered a “disability”.
If it's a functional work environment then it should be no problem. However, what could you do to see if it's actually a dysfunctional environment during the interview? Easy - try to get a tour.
I just hope their paying attention when you mention ADHD to them.
Wait.? Are you saying you want them to buy you an ADHD tv if you get hired? They’re not that expensive now days. Just buy one with your salary. Problem solved.

I don’t think you need to bring it up in the interview and I wouldn’t suggest it, there will always be bias. However, when applying for a job I think they ask if you need any accommodations for disabilities.
