Hi Fishes
I would like to know about the client interviews (especially in data science or machine learning roles).
Are these interviews tough?
Are these interviews meant to assess technical knowledge? For example, what is binomial distribution, what are different data structures in python, ml algorithms etc.
I would request each of the nagarrians to share their thoughts irrespective of the technologies you are working.
I am thankful to you for taking time and helping me out.

Keep in mind you”ll be replaced instantly after you give notice as they will just find another “resource” and if there is a downturn, you might be let go
After 2-3 weeks nobody will remember you were there
Best leadership is the one that supports your move, so hold those relationships close as you navigate your career!
Congrats on the offer!!
Wise words and the truth! Congrats on the offer!
When are we not in the middle of a project? You’ll never leave if you try to time it when you’re not in the middle of a project. If it’s a great opportunity and you find it’s the best move for yourself, then go. Just put in the effort to help with as smooth of a transition as possible so you don’t burn bridges.
They’ll get over it - do what’s best for you. You can always try to push start date some time help.
Decide if it’s career wise the right path. If it is, set a good transition package and start offloading. They’ll hire someone else. If you had an emergency, they’d figure it out. Two weeks is more than enough time to go.
They’ll have another person tomorrow
Going through this now . Had a meeting with my SM and they didn’t give a shit rly . Basically said c ya can you help with x amount of work and called it a day. No one cares about you sadly and you’re just a number . Do you!!
You could get hit by a bus tomorrow and the project would go on without you. Your whole team could quit and the project would still manage to progress with a slight hiccup. You do you. Your firm will persevere. Two weeks notice will avoid burning bridges.
Don’t.

Guilt is a self-imposed emotion brought on by feeling as if your actions are damaging someone else. There’s no reason to feel guilt about leaving a job. The other parties involved wouldn’t hesitate to show you the door if the business required it. They don’t care, so why should you?
How far can you push the start date and when is your project expected to end?
Who the hell cares???
No leave and do what’s best for you! That’s insane that you’re even considering sticking around for an engagement that’ll mean nothing once you leave. The firm will just plot someone in for you once you leave, they won’t blink twice and won’t panic. You do you and congrats!
Question is to ask why you feel guilty and then you will realize it’s not actually because you’re a good person but you simply are afraid of confrontation and any type of uncomfortable situation. I’m not saying this to be a dick, more because most people are like that and once you realize that you reframe to think about how can I be more comfortable with uncomfortable convos. Otherwise feeling guilty to leave a big consulting firm in middle of a project doesn’t make sense, you are there for the pay. If you leave you don’t get paid. There is no favors being done here it’s a business transaction and nobody is keeping you there to be nice
Trust me, we’re all replaceable cogs in the machine. Just go wherever gives you the most and best quality oil. Mechanics will repair the machine because there’s plenty of spare parts.
I don’t. They would get rid of me in a second if it helped them in some way.
Most companies would not think twice about prioritizing project/business needs over convenience to you. Follow suit and prioritize your own needs over convenience to the project.
If there were a downturn, they wouldn’t keep you for your loyalty
I’m going through this now and it’s absolutely brutal for me. I like my practice and people lead a lot but it’s an opportunity I don’t think I can pass up.
That’s not your problem, take the offer and run
Yep. Most won’t care, and the ones that do will be happier that you got a better gig for yourself. It may be rough for a few weeks after you leave, but the rest of your team will get over it and others will leave for better opps as well
Don’t worry about it. People leave. Projects go on. Do what’s best for you. There is never a good time to leave. Just do it.
