I used to stress about it, but now I just silence my phone and ignore. If there is someone else around to assist, there is no need to ruin your PTO.
Ignore them… and take corrective action in the morning for not following protocol/ no call no show (because calling you after hours obviously doesn’t count).
My DM actually told me that when I am on PTO, it’s my time and to ignore work related communications
I usually just screen shot and forward to person that is working
I would ignore them and when you get back to work continue to remind them that you are not responsible for their questions or concerns outside of work hours. Protect your peace.
Set boundaries and be consistent with them. If you set a boundary and then go back on it even once it will open the door for them to keep contacting you outside of work hours.
For now, just ignore the calls until further notice. Open up about your personal boundaries when you get the chance and set them straight. If it's beyond your work hours and demand for your time during a PTO, it's not your responsibility anymore.
You might have to remind them again or better yet re-establish your boundaries in a healthy way, set rules if you must. Best opportunity to do it would be during a general meeting.
We have a leader on call schedule posted with their phone numbers. It’s a rotating responsibility, with a hidden clinical on call for leader on call eyes only if they need help. Each morning, leaders have a leader on call report out to discuss call outs and other issues from call. This has worked well for us.
