People who sit around waiting for a promotion are often disappointed. You should be proactive and set goals at the beginning of the year indicating to your managers that you are looking for a promotion. Then have regular checkpoints to understand what else you could be doing to make the case for promotion
Nearly impossible to say without knowing your firms expectations, but I’d say in most consulting firms, you need to be in the drivers seat for this. If you aren’t regularly talking career development with your manager/leadership and discussing how to ramp up for promotion and expected timelines, I would be fairly surprised if they even consider you up for promotion. I’d make sure you get time with someone soon and be prepared to directly ask about your promotion readiness, areas of development, and timeline expectations. Be an advocate for yourself and make sure you are talking to the decision makers, I’d honestly never look to promote someone who wasn’t vocally advocating for themselves.
