I have zero interest in misleading someone into joining only to have them do crappy work because they’re miserable and going to quit in 2 years and force me to train someone else.
I wish more people were like you in that way!

Speak to at least 2/3 people in the group post-offer. Ask about deal/matter flow, how work gets allocated, their thoughts on what they’ve seen or experienced wrt to lateral integration etc. also, this is when you can start asking culture questions. Also, speak to at least two people who used to be in the practice group at the firm. This is key. Can probably find them by digging through LinkedIn. Good luck. It’s almost always a crapshoot.
Agreed with this. And ask to schedule an in person or Zoom post-offer meeting, so you can read their body language and facial expressions when you ask questions about hours, management style, etc.
