Horrible commute most of the time, alas
i still don’t get it why execs, MDs are happy about this regional model.most of us went into consulting for travel. maybe the business is shifting from consulting to big staff augmentation contracts where there is steady stream of sure shot revenue
driving when it makes sense.
All of the above are possibilities. What it really means is unless you have a skill set that can get you out of region your TFS is required to staff in region
They are not going after staff aug - the MDs I work with ( I’m in Digital) are not interested in staff aug gigs
tell that to our leader who was in costa rica recently
m1 - staff Aug has nothing to do with our operation in Costa - if you think it does you don’t understand what staff aug is.
sm1, was being implicit about ‘costa rica’. whoever was there recently, this regional model is her baby projec
It’s to minimize heavy travel. Nothing worse than flying east to west coast every week.
Agree I don’t get it. Haven’t met anyone who likes this model. Doesn’t really apply to me as an SM in Strategy but just seems to create extra overhead across the board. Before when I had to deal with one leader in digital - now I need to deal with 5??? Absurd.
Also who wants a terrible commute which often happens in this model
Can I work traveling into my offer terms? I want to take the offer but that regional model is not what I’m looking for. I enjoy all of the traveling
SM1, will they walk away from a 2M staff aug project? i don’t think so. some project as masked as projects but in fact they are staff aug. so stop being blind
No
M1 - I didn’t say we don’t do it at all - for some parts of the business it’s just a reality - not in Digital
She may well be the next CEO - what are your thoughts about that possibility ?
none
Since this regional BS was her idea and she’s a lawyer not a consultant, I vote no🙋♀️👎🏻
K1 first off we have always tried to avoid crazy travel but it will still happen with high demand skill sets and as you get more senior, it is unavoidable. This model just puts more pressure on senior folks - I can’t re-use an analyst I trained up because they’re in a dif region- it’s idiotic.! Also may I point out that being local with long commutes sucks. I’d rather fly east to west.
Funny they stopped all our junior people from traveling - the very people who are enticed by the travel.
What levels are still able to travel? I take it the analyst levels are the regional folks. What about consultant level and higher?
I don’t know about all DTEs but typically consultants and analysts have a regional focus more than anyone. Doesn’t mean no travel just more of an exception to be outside region. Depends on the skill set.
