Yea the good days of H1B are clearly behind us. Most of us are swinging it as long as we can with the inevitable return in mind.
The existing VP will be there for the next 8 years. 3+8=11. Let’s touch base again after 11 years.
I disagree as far as those who are on H1B in stable roles on their 3rd or 4th renewals. Coming in so far I think most will try to tide through for the next few years until anything outside their control. That could mean hitting pause on job transfers or trips abroad. But in the long run, very few will sacrifice the American dream.
On a relative basis day to day vs India, it is hard to argue against the US life despite the endless GC wait. Now if I were a citizen of another first world country, then it is fair to ask if this is all worth it but not with India in my opinion.

C1: I was simply objecting to your statement about deporting H1Bs. H1B program was established through a congress act. They can change the framework around it (selection criteria, etc.) but can’t invalidate the visas overnight and deport those people. Trump himself has taken too much money from companies relying on the visa for his pet projects.

LOL. In 10 yrs majority of h1 and GC population will be in their late 40s or mid 50s and all will struggle to keep their IT/ consutling jobs unless they are in management roles or are really good at their job. All the companies will replace expensive labor with cheaper jr engineers who are AI savvy and domestic. This admin will ensure future h1 labor flow is very constraint. Why would any non tech company or industry will pay top dollars to programmers and mid level tech leads. Almost 8-10% workforce is built on incompetent, fake resume candidates who needs to be kicked out so genuine folks can keep their jobs.
