My gf and I are having a big discussion and I would love to get your thoughts on this. It’s about how much we keep in touch and communicate when I’m on the road. She needs to hear from me everyday multiple times and if I don’t answer her texts within a few hours, she can get quite controlling (text over and over again, also on my work phone, asks what I am doing and gets upset). I am not used to that and have the trust if she doesn’t text back, that it’s for good reasons, busy at work…. (Ctd)

You should be in touch with your manager about this and sales should either have you on a SWE or make you available for other projects. That said, our util is generally 78%, even 5 weeks shouldn't prevent you from getting that for the year. I'm sitting well over 100% with mostly 40 hr weeks and a few days of PTO.
I took four weeks of PTO after a project ended and came back to another five weeks. They booked me to a project before it had signed to make sure I didn’t go anywhere else but it effectively screwed me

There's nothing to fix, our goal is lower on purpose to make the math simpler (no denominator exclusions except if leave of absence, essentially). IIRC Deloitte's util target is much higher than 78% for this reason.
