I have an offer to do some consulting for a company based out of the UK (I am in the US). The job would not go through a consulting company but would be directly with the company. Am I understanding utilization rate correctly? It’s chargeable time over total time? Charged 40 hours and had 10 hours non-charge so my utilization is 80%? If so, wouldn’t it benefit me to understate non-charge hours so my utilization is higher since they only really care about chargeable time anyways? Charge 40 hours still but only put 5 hours non-charge for utilization to be 89% instead of 80%? Or am I misunderstanding how utilization works?

Hi Fishes with overrated bloated salaries,
20+ 30+ 40+ 50+ 60+ LPAs

Majority of our salaries are going in Taxes..
I came across two examples where, one person having 13 lpa is getting almost 95+ after all tax declarations.. And another person with 20 lpa is getting around 1.05 lakhs take home after deductions..
So it's just 10k difference every month.. 13 lpa vs 20 lpa...

My CTC is 10 lpa & take home salary is 78.5k pm after deductions..

I had HR discussion with TCS today. My current CTC is 20 lpa and I have an offer for 26.5 , expecting one from Genpact for 28.5. The TCS HR said they can provide 27 as CTC and I asked for 28 max. She said she'll check and get back in 2 days.
