How likely is the jump from big4 non-strategy (pmo, governance, these things) to strategy (either t2 or mbb)? Assume I am a recent graduate who will probably start in big4, just trying to get the right expectations and plan accordingly

I did it. Start lying to yourself about the work you do and position it as close to strategy as you can. Then you can communicate seamlessly in interviews

Very likely

I don’t know which company OP works for thus I can’t be definitive on non-strategy Big4 vs strategy Big4. OP has to come that conclusion by herself/himself. But EY vs EY-P, or PwC vs Strategy& examples were what I was thinking when answering the question.

65% probability

I’ll take that

There is no reason you can't do it, but worth finding a way to demonstrate what you've done to already make the jump to strategy (e.g. what makes you different from all the other auditors interviewed this week)

like

Auditing would be a bit far from strategy. I am still going to attempt Tier2 and strategy boutiques, followed by big4 “implementation” consulting (pmo and stuff). Not strategy, but I reckon it’s closer to it than auditing. But I get what you mean, absolutely

What skills help for strategy? What are firms looking for on a resume? I have 8 YOE of BIG 4 and industry exp and trying to break in.

I hope you aren’t asking me, I have yet to join and I am probably not making it to strategy xD as far as I know, they either look for previous strategy experience (as opposed to specific skills) or managerial experience in an industry they do strategy in

Recommend you review job posting for strategy arms. If you’re not fulfilling those details and actually currently doing that work, you’re a hard sell. When I do resume review, that’s the easiest marker

Hey guys. I used to do IB but I just left. I just recently started this new role at a tech company a few weeks ago and I got a message on LinkedIn about another opportunity that I think is a million times better. I spoke to the recruiter a few days ago and she knows I left IB but I didn’t tell her I started a new role. She asked if I have offers on the table and I said I have one offer but never mentioned my new role. What should I do?

Have any of your managers ask you to track every single hour you spent? It’s been pain of me for a long time. 1) sometimes I forget what exactly have I done for the day to reach 8. 2) some tasks take more time than managers’ expectation due to follow up, investigating, etc. and if you put more hours than then expected, they will then ask why.

I received an offer for a big 4 in risk, which I signed early in September, but just now received another offer in TAS from a different firm. I feel kind of bad, but I truly despise the idea of working in risk now. ( My friend who's in the role right now hates it)
