How long did it take before you “found your groove” in the practice of architecture? I’m 8 years out of college, moved to a new country and now starting over as a designer. I feel like I still don’t know enough and it feels like being secure in what I do is a long ways away.

Hi. I am a 6 year experienced sdet trying to get into devops.
I started to practise on Jenkins build.

Here is my idea for a startup! I collect all the data from career transitions and use Data Analytics to predict the most likely career transitions. I could start with consulting. Had a very successful interview with Amazon but recruiter is working hard trying to place me and said there’s no knowing how long to find a team. Meanwhile I just received a Director offer for a company with a 29% pay bump July 1. If Amazon or any other FAANG/large co gets back to me, is there an acceptable way to not burn bridges with new job and accept or delay start date with FAANG? Or fuck it just hop?

Hi everyone, I’m an architectural designer (from Europe) with 1.5 yrs experience. I’m working for a practice in San Francisco, full-time from the office, getting 25 an hour. It is so expensive to live here, I am struggling to make things work. Is this a normal salary for someone of my experience or should I ask for a raise? I’m curious to know if anyone has experience working part-time in architecture? I have been working for large international firms in NYC for the past 10 years. So I work all day every day. My evenings and often the weekends are all absorbed by work duties. Working part-time would allow me to find a better balance, and carve out space for side gigs and eventually start my own firm. Any recommendations?

Curious to know what other avenues people have taken in our industry to make more money. Currently getting OT which is nice since most places don’t offer that benefit but still doesn’t feel like it’s worth the long nights when the paycheck comes in.
