Could anyone kindly tell me about the Investment Management and Private Equity Audit Group at Deloitte? 1. Work Life Balance (Is it worst than the ordinary Big 4 WLB?) 2. Is it an entirely different audit from commercial/retail audits (think account balances etc.) 3. Difficult to learn how to audit clients in this industry without prior experience in the industry?(been doing commercial audits for 3 years) 4. Are there relatively good exit opportunities for this audit group? Deloitte PwC EY

People who have any semblance of a professional work ethic won't burn out in a year or two. They may decide there are easier ways to earn a living.
People who have the mental acumen to be a Big4 consultant may burn out after 5/6 years of constant grind but anyone citing burn out after 3/4 years was probably over reaching in their career aspirations
The historical turnover rate is around 20%, so I dont think folks who burn out after 3 years were overreaching
I didn’t burn out. I just faded away…
May the RIF be with you….

It is normal that some burn out quickly. It is also normal that some may last their entire career.

Sure some people burn out but a lot of people leave after getting presented with a better opportunity somewhere else. People make such a big deal about starting, staying or when they are going to leave B4 and it’s pretty ridiculous. St the end of the day it’s just 4 companies out of the hundreds/ thousands of companies that have accounting roles.
Was at PW for 1.5 years then PWC for 5 years now EY for 20 years.
Why the flip? Is EY that different than PricewaterhouseCoopers?

I've been in the B4 (was B8) for over 36 years. Initial burnout probably happened about 10 years in. Take some time to rest and recharge each year, and you'll get up the energy for another turn.
