Hi all, I just got a job offer at PwC for a senior consultant position. The salary is 30% above my total comp right now, but I’m just worried about the amount of work I will have to put in compared to my amazing work life balance now. Does anyone have any experience moving from industry to consulting? I need some advice on what to do. I’m still early in my career (1.4yoe) so I feel like I shouldn’t care too much about wlb, but at the same time, I don’t want my mental health to suffer either.

I wouldn’t consider anything more than 1800 hours as being good for WLB. Even 1800 hours sucks, it’s just better than the alternatives out there relatively speaking. I’m in house and work a true 9-5 for the most part which is so much better. Highly recommend.
The understanding is that I log of by 5:30pm or at the latest 6pm. TC is almost $250k as well so not a bad gig.
My biglaw firm has a 1900 minimum with unlimited pro bono counting toward that, plus 50 in DEI/recruiting. So… I would not say that is a lifestyle firm. 1800 or less IMO, because that is below most or all biglaw firm expectations.
1925 minimum is definitely not WLB
1550 is WLB
Mine is 1850 but can credit 50 pro bono and 50 DEI.. they also consider marketing, cle, etc. for bonuses
1750 is wlb
That’s a really high minimum
125-140 per month is pretty nice wlb

If nothing else counts towards it then 1925 is not WLB. My friend at a true lifestyle shop has a 1500 hour requirement.
I feel like I have decent wlb and I’m almost at 2k hrs for the year, with 2 months left in fy
Ok

I had good WLB as an associate when I was averaging 150/month (1800 annualized). Beyond that you start cutting into family time.
0, but I’m staff counsel. I was going to go to a private litigation defense firm with a min of 1900 billables, but when I thought to myself “if I take a week vacation, I have to fit those 40 hours in elsewhere” so I said nope.
Good q bc I’m dying at a 2000 min
Cant fairly assess if thats fair WLB without knowing your compensation.
