How many case interviews do you need to go through at McKinsey for an associate position?

I have 4 years experience in PHP Adobe Commerce technology
I have been looking forward to change tech stack now to Java Spring Boot + ReactJs
I have been learning it since a year now and will start applying soon. I am concerned about not having real project experience in Java. How should I explain this in the interview?
Also what range should I ask for compensation?

A friend of mine from a top tier consulting firm was counseled out. Do you consider it ethical that his career counselor is intentially spreading the information to his colleagues and to other consultants from other companies in the project? What can he do about it?
