Sounds like you want someone to do simple subtraction for you. Use those critical thinking skills that got you hired
Pwc3 I’ve never heard of that.. ever
PwC 2, that's only if you drive to the office. If you take public transit, you have to convert the cost of a ticket into mileage. Current reimbursement rate is 54.5 cents/mile. If your train ticket is $5, divide by .545 and it equals 9.17 miles. You would expense everything over 9 miles (instead of 15).
Another example: I live 1 mile away and walk to the office. I expense my entire commute to the client. Why would I deduct that mile when I can walk to work and pay nothing for gas / wear and tear on my car?
What if I take a rickshaw?
5...commute (house to client) minus normal commute (house to office)
What if you buy a monthly train ticket so the outgoing for your public transport does not change based on a few days traveling to client? Assuming you are only going to client site periodically and not enough to cancel the monthly ticket.
It's the guidance that was given by HR when I started as an intern and as a FT hire and what my entire group uses. The firm policy is to reimburse costs above your normal commute to the office (that is how it is worded). If OP lives 15 miles away from the office and 20 miles away from the client, the calculation is (20 * .545) - (15 * .545) = 2.73, assuming OP drives to the office and his normal commute is $8.18. But if OP takes the train, his normal commute is the cost of a train ticket, not $8.18.
If you bought a monthly train ticket you would expense your 100% of mileage if you were driving during the month you had a monthly ticket.
Same @PwC 3- I live 0.8 miles from the office and have to drive 19 miles (one way) to the client. I expense 38 miles round trip every day I’m there which is a little over $20/daily.
