I recently interviewed with MITRE for a systems engineering role to make the move from Leidos where I feel underpaid for the work I do and for my experience ($85K). I have 4 YOE, a STEM degree, and soon will have a Masters Degree. I’m looking to make around $120K in the new role at Mitre. Does anyone have any insight into comp there? This would be in the DC metro area. Does $120K seem reasonable or am I dreaming?
Interviewing with Apple next week for the roles of Global Supply Manager (GSM) and Worldwide Procurement Analyst in Austin. Does anyone have any tips or advice for the interview? What kind of questions do they ask?
Also, what’s the compensation like in Austin specifically? I would think the compensation would be different than Cupertino. Anyone have any offers or salaries for these positions in Austin?
I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

[query] Is it a good idea to say a firm No due to medical reasons to a new night shift project I'm hired in?Accenture
I recently got a night shift project (2 days ago) that requires me to work from 10:30pm till 7:30am
I'm not comfortable with these timings and I'm thinking to ask my manager to put me on Bench (Due to medical reasons that involve mental health)
Is it a nice idea to say a firm No to a new project I'm hardlocked into, due to night shifts?

If you have a personal reason for it, and can tell a story I think it's fine. I recently took time off to care of a family member and that wasn't looked negatively upon at all.
That’s great you were able to do that and didn’t impact you negatively. Everyone should be like this!

I think it can impact things, but it really depends on the manager and how the gap is framed. Some people still unfairly treat gaps as a red flag, even though layoffs, caregiving, health, or a tough market are all normal reasons now. I’d just be ready with a simple explanation and then quickly redirect back to your experience and what you can bring to the role.
Great suggestions. Thanks for the tips!
I just got hired after 6 month of unemployment. The first 3 months I spent with family.
I “resigned” from my previous role but I wasn’t given a choice.
Glad you were able to get hired relatively quickly again! Sorry you were forced to resign.
Commonly assumed companies don’t get rid of their best people and if a high performer is laid off they usually find a new gig pretty quickly so being let go and not finding something quickly is usually a bad sign.
If someone isn’t working they usually lose negotiating leverage with the hiring manager so say ~10% of comp.
If the recruiter has labeled you as a B level candidate instead of A+ you’ve already lost it.

Depends how you spin it
So true!
It seems like the applicant tracking systems (ATS) auto-reject me for having a gap. I've only been getting interviews with smaller firms where they are actually looking at resumes vs. having ATS filter candidates for them.
