Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Hi Guys,
Do Amex provide relocation expenses ?
I'm curious what the average salary is for an Associate Agent. I'm licensed & do everything after the sale is made as well as refer new business. I have 14 years in the industry but have been at the current company less than a year, so I know that plays a part as well. Anyone in a like-position by chance?State Farm Allstate Travelers

Did they claim the cancellation was due to weather? That’s gets you $0. Unless you are high level elite, no way they will give you $300 for lodging.
Thanks this is helpful. I don’t think it was weather, I think it was one of the many flight canceled due to staffing shortages. I figured $330 would be somewhat reasonable in a relatively expensive city like San Diego (there are still plenty of hotels in the $5-600 range) but maybe I’ll just book the $200 spot and see if I can at least get that covered after the fact, just going there to put my head down anyway.

I didn’t think they gave you a choice of hotel

Did you book with a credit card that has trip delay insurance? If yes, you could definitely book the hotel and submit the claim.
I don't know about United but American doesn't comp hotels - they just gave me a $250 flight credit + a free booking.
I would just book the hotel you want and enjoy it. I book through perks at work and it's generally cheaper than google

Why was the flight cancelled? Did you request a hotel voucher?
UA isn’t likely to comp after the fact. Your credit card on the other hand may have trip disruption insurance.
Oooh, good idea. I have the CSR so they probably do
$0. They'll cover a hotel for mechanical or service related cancellations but if its a weather delay $0. Also they would've arranged and booked it if they were going to cover it (they aren't)

This isn’t how any of this works lol. If the flight is cancelled for a reason that actually triggers compensation, you can request a hotel voucher and a specific list of hotels that voucher can be used at (and btw it doesn’t guarantee a room, the hotel can say they won’t honor it or are sold out). You don’t get to just extend your vacation and send a bill to the airline.

Yeah that uh… isn’t how this works. I legitimately was stranded in ATL due to a delayed first flight leg (weather and mechanical issues combined) and missed the last flight out to my destination. I still had to fight for about 3 weeks through different channels before they would comp my $150 hotel stay
Try looking into your credit card insurance. They should cover the cost of stuff like this
Historic hotel? Hmmm the US Grant? Or maybe the Horton Grand? Both are cool

US Grant was my guess as well. If so OP won’t be disappointed, it’s very nice.
If they say it was due to weather, they went give you jack.
I had an emergency landing in El Paso and didn’t even get a hotel that night because they ran out
You should always be booking flights on the sapphire reserve. You’d have gotten a reimbursable hotel through chase, but actually United doesn’t need to (and they most likely won’t) give you anything.
To the person who said that you have to book a hotel on the provided list - that is incorrect. You can book any hotel but you will only get $200 comped, unless "extenuating circumstances"
