How much do you value work-life balance? I have seen people not work a minute over what they need to and also seen people who work 20 hours a day. How has your view on work-life balance changed since the start of your career.

It's grown increasingly more important, which I think is the norm for most people. When you're first starting out in your career, there's a tendency to do anything to get ahead, even if it comes at the expense of your personal life. As you get more established in your career, I think most - myself included - start to prioritize the other things we didn't make time for earlier.

Very much. I work to live, I don’t live to work. That is something that was drilled into me when I first started working full time and I have always taken it to heart.

When I was younger, I didn't care, I would work how ever long and work days off. Now I value my personal time much more. I personally wouldn't care if I had to work over a little or even a few hours of it's not a regular thing but I have learned that most things can wait and when it's time to go to just log off.

I highly value it, but will work a few minutes over.

Companies will take everything you will give and ask for more. Set boundaries or burn out and hate life.

Personally? 40-45 hours on a normal week. 50-60 on weeks when I'm traveling for work (including travel time) because I have nothing else to do.

When I was younger, I used to work overnight shifts. One reason was the job was very challenging, and I wanted to prove myself. Now, I value my personal time more. I do not believe the ideology that those who work late are the hardworking employees. It is never about the hours; it is about the results.

Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.

I have an offer for a company abroad. Originally they wanted me to fly out and start the day after Thanksgiving (not celebrated in their country), but because of the holidays I suggested starting in either December or January with the ability to take some holiday days in December to fly back home for Christmas. They then proposed starting out remotely “as soon as possible” in the US as a contractor and then moving abroad to start full time abroad. (Cont)
