It has been 2+ weeks since I completed the Interview & Psychometric Assessment rounds with Macquarie Group , but yet to hear anything from them. I also followed up with HR but with no response. For the record, the interview went well. Any idea if they usually take this amount of time to get back? If I got rejected, why not communicate directly?

Well, it’s not a salary first of all. Most partnerships are comped based on how well the business does, so it is somewhat variable with generally minimum earnings sort of guaranteed.
So to your question, the comp of an individual partner is impacted by firm’s performance - the bigger the pie, the bigger is your piece, as well as their individual performance - if they met their goals.
But I think you’re talking about a business case for making partner including affordability, which is a different ballgame. Is there a business case for you to make it and how strong is it, and can the practice afford you. And that’s a conversation you need to have with your leadership as they’re the only ones that would know this. Strangers on the internet have no idea how big your practice is and whether your partners bring enough to the table.
Don’t know about PWC but typically it depends on the equity they have and individual performance will provide them additional equity for that year
