I pull out of interviews when either I know I’ll HATE the work and can’t waste anymore time interviewing or they send me an aggressively time consuming case study prior to a real interview. That turns me off. I’d be much more likely to trust the company if I have a first round THEN a case study which shows some investment from them
Good to know, I don't blame you at all. Whenever I get homework I always try to throw in that I'm super busy right now and would be happier doing it over the phone live rather than home then live. I've had a few people shy away from that presumably because the written assignment gives the company a free consultation on paper.
I’ll usually give the crappy HR screen a pass, but if the first round is anything but great, no dice. It’s only downhill from there
