Market for Sacramento not a bigger city. Firm pays based on it's nation wide Salary schedule which is nice in my area.

Yes, meet with the partner who hired you, or practice group leader.
Email followed by voice mail. I mean if your managing partner actually comes into the office or answers the phone, then do that, but otherwise do your best. Don't wait around for them to be available. If you are lucky, the only response will be locking you out of the network.
If you can speak to someone in person that’s the way to go. If not, I’d try picking up the phone before just sending an email.
I agree doing it in person is the most respectful and sets you up to maintain good relationship with the firm and attorneys there. It doesn't sound like you have any ill-will and are just taking a great opportunity so shouldn't be too painful of a chat. IMHO, is a much better feeling to leave on good terms and having an honest exit conversation is a great way to do that. Also, if you are feeling altruistic, a candid conversation with them might help your current firm to review their wages and assess happiness of other employees.

And you never know when you might need a recommendation, for example, if you’re waiving to another state’s bar. I would never burn bridges unless things were actually acrimonious.
