Doesn’t PwC offer two weeks before your due date?
Thanks! Yeah that’s probably what I’m gonna do. Take 2 for sure and then might work 50% or something leading to my last day in case my team needs me and use my PTO.
As someone who isn’t going to be having a baby for awhile, I’m curious. I know pregnancy gets very uncomfortable the last couple months and even painful, especially as you get closer to or past 40 weeks.
Were y’all performing at 100% those last few weeks/months, especially if it was during busy season? I’ve been in a group where busy season peak was over 100 hours/week (and we had plenty of moms in the group), and I was barely surviving as a healthy non pregnant woman.
My last pregnancy 3rd trimester was post busy season, but I can tell you I was able to get A LOT more done third tri than the 1st tri (when I was in busy season). There is NOTHING that compares to the exhaustion of first trimester pregnancy. I knew I was pregnant with my second SOLELY because I had one of those days where my exhaustion was CHILLING in my bones & i KNEW the only other time in my life I had experienced that level of exhaustion was my first trimester. Does 3rd tri get uncomfy? Sure. But the exhaustion of first tri made it impossible to work long/busy season hours.
KPMG gave us 4 weeks off before the due date but I think they just changed it to 2. I savored every minute of those 4 weeks. Highly recommend if you can swing it.
Understood, I was more referring to taking more than 2 weeks off using my PTO before due date or saving it for after the baby is born. 2 weeks is standard other than for few states like NY or CA.
I’m in CA and I’m allowed to start my mat leave at 36 weeks…it probably varies from state to state though because my coworker lives in Florida and she started her leave 8 days before she delivered.
I tried to take 3 & 2 1/2 weeks off before my first and second babies’ due date respectively- in accordance with our STD policy. Oldest was born the first freaking day (Monday) of my leave by 5pm and second at least had the courtesy to wait until Wednesday evening to make her impending labor known to me. 🤣🤣 guess I just don’t cook them longer till 37 weeks. However, I learned my lesson after the first one and did actually manage to get my hospital bag packed in plenty of time the second go-round.
Oh wow! Haha guess you missed out on the free weeks given by our STD. My first was born at 38 weeks so I’m hoping this one is somewhere similar to that timeline. I can’t imagine carrying until 41 weeks.
PwC gives us 2 weeks prior to our due date. If baby comes later - we get more free PTO until baby is born and STD/FMLA kicks in. If baby comes early, you just get less of that 2 weeks.
You should def use the 2 weeks! It’s super helpful!
I planned to rest for 2 days before being induced but baby wanted to come after I ended the workday smh hence no time to rest
Are you with PwC? Why didn’t you take more time off beforehand?
