I’m in a similar boat but traveling tues-thurs with a 11 month old at home. It’s kind of what you make it given your network and clients. You could ask for help from the firm to find you a local/remote/internal gig, or just network your ass off for local work. Given we get 4-6 months paternity leave, I wouldn’t bring too much attention to wanting something local. I guess we all need to decide if we can handle any travel given the new addition to the family! Congrats, by the way!
26 weeks of pat leave is pretty stellar
I think all depends of your network. I’m coming back from paternity leave and I found a project in my network for which I need to drive to the client. It’s a 2 hours drive M-T but it’s much better than flying coast to coast
BCG1 do you have 26 weeks paternity leave?
No. We have 8. Aren’t you guys 26 now? 20? Either way, still stellar
I find D to be very supportive. I took the 4 months of paternity leave and was supported throughout by my leadership and various teams. I didn’t work while I was on leave but I did use the last part of it to network and find the right project to land on, instead of waiting and having to make a quick decision once I’m back. If you plan and network, you can find something that works for you and your family
Thanks D3.
