How to get offer in 90 day notice period without resigning

It totally depends on your YOE, current role, and notice period.

1. You have 0-2 years of experience. You will hardly get any call. Increase it to 5-8 years, you will get 10 calls a day. Not sure why it is the case. By mistake, the total experience in my naukri account was 5 years. It included all the internship experiences as well. That day I got 17 calls. Next day, I changed it back to 2 years. It reduced drastically.

2. Your headline. Try to include the most popular keywords in your headline. You put something like Senior Software Engineer - you have less chances.
Put something like Senior Full Stack Java
Microservices Developer - kaboom!!!

3. You have a notice period of 90 days - even naukri wont send you promotional messages. You put it to 60 days, your profile starts getting bookmarked by recruiters. Put it to <30 days, you will start getting calls.

4. Put all the possible skill sets that you have. Ex. you are a developer, put Agile, SDLC, etc. Check the most popular JDs, pick the keywords, put it in your skillset. Then think about actually learning them.

These might work out for somebody. And there will be people who would get calls without following this. These are just my observations. And I have found it to be true for indeed and linkedin as well.

I have posted it in other posts as well. Just thought it would be helpful for you.

No company can force you to work for a 90 days notice period. As a heads up, 14 days are required. What you can do about it:

1. Tell your prospective employer that your notice period is 60 days, but it is negotiable and might come down to 45 days. People usually wait for that period of time. If they end up choosing you for the job, tell them that you're involved in a critical project right now and your employer isn't willing to reduce it to 45 days, hence you'd have to work the standard 60 days.

Next up, negotiating with your current employer.

2. Once you get the offer, use your existing Paid Leaves. One can always use their available paid leaves to shorten the notice period time. In my case, I had around 45-50 paid leaves. I opted to use them all to significantly reduce my NP. I only ended up with an exact 1 month of NP that I served.

3. Keep giving interviews now that you have an offer at hand and are already on notice period. This time is GOLD to actually bag a very high paying job.

NB: This is tried and tested. Until Nov '22 I was at 6.5 lpa. I got my first offer for 9.5 lap in Nov. Resigned and kept giving interviews. I am at 20.3 lpa (4.8 lacs variable). This is a huge jump and I do consider myself extremely lucky. But I just want to say that this is very much possible.
I am from a non tech background and I'm currently working in a popular tech company (non MAANG)

List down companies who accept 90 days np. Try in them for your first offer

like

Just keep trying !! , I have gone through that two times (90 days np) , Try to get atleast first offer on their terms then start your game of getting counter offers which you will start getting in the remaining 2 months of np, by that time you may get many good opportunities depending upon your skills & experience.

Just one suggestion which worked for me, keep learning during those days whether you are getting calls for an interview or not, brush up your basics, you will definitely get calls & clear interviews.

All The Best !! 👍🏻

Notice period is not something that anyone can force you to. If you want you can move out tomorrow but it's a courtesy to inform your employer at least 14 days before. The most they can do is delay your Full and final settlement and you experience certificate or even deny you that in later case you might have to go to labour court.

like

@MT1 I hope you're recommending this approach because it worked for you, because otherwise it's really bad advice.

The law doesn't really say anything about the notice period, and yes, the experience letter can be taken via labor court, and labor court DOESN'T take years (speaking from experience) BUT.

BUT.

If the next firm is a reputed one, they WILL insist on approving your joining after receiving the relieving letter. Or some sort of confirmation on acknowledgment of resignation and Last Working Day allocated by the company.

+ it does not set the right tone with the new employer and can be a pain in the background check even years later.

Conclusion is don't go for not serving the notice period. Serve it. Try buying it out. Negotiate aggressively. But don't escape it. Do everything upfront. It will work out in the end.

Ask someone to refer you in case of referrals chances are higher of getting calls

like

My notice period is also 90days and when ever i am getting calls, hr saying 90 days is to long. We liked your profile but we cannot wait for 90days. Even i am frustrated

like

It's better to be honest upfront. If you are capable and the interview panel likes you. They'll wait for you. However, if the requirement is to fill the position asap, then it's better to understand the policies of your present company to better negotiate with the new company

like

do not tell correct np time, ask how much they can accept and then say I will negotiate to these many days in my org—worked for me.

TL;DR
-You should have enough backup to survive for 60-90 days without a job in a worst case situation; without a job, after 90days.

Speaking from experience:
-My team member resigned in March 2023.
-He is the only earner, has 1 school going kid; and non-working spouse.
-His parents are dependent and they stay in a village in Odisha.
-Yoe 10; Java developer, 14LPA
-From Mphasis, working as a contractor in JP Morgan and Chase.

Now, this is how he did it:
-He had a backup to survive for 60 days without a job.
-He and his wife were prepared to mortgage their jewellery in worst case situation.
-He resigned without any offers.
-He got his first interview call after around 25 days.
-He got the next 5 calls between 35 and 50 days.
-He got the next set of calls between 51 and 70 days.
-His first offer was rolled out on the 80th Day of his notice period.
-His second offer came on 81th Day.
-His current company, Mphasis, finally offered him to stay back by giving him an additional 2L, total 16LPA
-He got the third and fourth offers on 90th Day.
-He eventually took the third company's offer and joined on this 105th day.

like

Well he was a full time employee of Mphasis. JP Morgan is their client.

He was deputed to work on this project.

From JP Morgan's perspective, he was a contractor for JPMC.

Yes, his salary was low!

And, I did not refer him anywhere.

Take the offer and then discuss this

Any openings or any referrals are much appreciated.

Thank you.😊

like

Nah this is what I did,
I got offer letter first and tried to convince my current company for 60 days and they did not approve it so i tried really hard for next 60 days for other offers and i got 2-3 of them and in worst case i would have requested the company to extend joining date by another month

like

Like gap 1 said, lie right now to hrs that you are serving np and you have 60 days left.
Once you get 2-3 offers for 60 days you will get the confidence and also how the market actually is for your skillset.

Then resign and keep giving interviews again.

like

I'd suggest you to keep your n.p as 70~80 days and start looking..
Coz some companies filter out with few checkpoint as exclude 90days n so on... Since putting 80 days made them think like if you're serving n.p...
Best of luck and keep searching... Prepare well for the interview and you've to make it somehow in your 1st interview.. and later on you can try to work on increasing your CTC.

like

You have to resign then only you can serve the notice period. Without resigning notice the period can't be served. You can take back your resignation if you change your mind in the near future. Or if you have made your mind to switch then you can apply for jobs and within 3 months I am sure you will be having many offers from good companies. Then you can apply for resignation 🙂

like

Try in same level of organisation who is having 90 days NP

like

Choose buyout option. But in this case they take your salary and relieves you instantly.

like

Here is what my career coach advised.

In 90 days duration, tell companies your are serving notice already and in 45 days is your last working date. Next question they will ask is do you have any offer - say no. Next last question they will ask is, without a job offer why did you resign - tell straight that no company is willing to wait for 90 days so you resigned and your are confident that you will get the job as for your skills.

After the first or second offer resign.

Start getting offers from companies you don't want to join. Just that in the next company salary discussion (tactically) and so on.

Don't exceed market salary range, else you will be at risk.

like

First thing, I'm sure they might have asked you for your notice period duration and you might have told them. No company will take interviews if your np is not aligning with their requirement. So chill, also talk to your manager and hr about the same in case you are required to join soon.

Not always the case. If NP is negotiable then companies do take interview

its always good to take some break
