Rising Star
I’d take that any day of the week but be wary that the micromanagement and late nights may still be there. I’ve worked in PE-backed businesses before and when they get involved they get involved with PE-like work expectations. Plus you’ll be directly reporting to someone who by job title will not touch or drive any work products themselves, yet will almost always have the final say on “what’s right”.
My response to this depends on whether you have ever worked outside of consulting or if this your full career profile. Other than the pay at the new shop, are you keen on the kind of work they do? Could you wait it out a bit longer to find something you truly are interested in. Sounds like you’ve got great prospects
I’d say if the director role doesn’t align with your longer term interests then maybe just wait a little bit, get really clear and active about what you want and then transition to that. It sounds like you’re still very young and it would be great to make Director now but personally feel like it’s only worth it if it’s in line with the kind of work you want to be doing.
Faced the same scenario earlier in my career and I don’t regret my decision to jump from a safe consulting role to a client side role as grew massively from a skills perspective and awareness about my sector.
Absolutely I’d take that offer with 3years consulting experience, it’s a career expanding prospect that doesn’t close any doors. And you’ve probably picked up much of the consulting tool chest you need.
Lol very unlikely you are on 115 all in with 3 YOE 💩
Spent 3 years in uk before moving across. Pay was terrible and my friend at McKinsey also wasn’t on serious cash. It’s a geographic issue not a firm issue. Bonuses terrible too compared to 30% which is the norm here. And 32 FYI comfortably saving 8k per month
