My team(over $2mm in revenue and $250mm in AUM) is exploring the RIA space. Any insights from similar former wirehouse teams who have already made the move, or teams considering going RIA? Many thanks

Hello. I sold custody for one of the big four custodians and worked for one of the others for 10 years until I formed my own RIA three and a half years ago. I now custody assets with the other two. When I formed my firm I did so initially as a hybrid but am now a pure RIA. I am well versed in practice management, operations, technology, legal and compliance. I consult with a handful of advisors annually as a Consultant. I have no agenda and can share some unbiased insights with you if interested.

Thank you, I will reach out tomorrow. I also look forward to replies from wirehouse teams who have already made the switch to RIA and from those who are also considering it (what have you learned while "kicking the tires")... i.e.: In what ways are you better able to serve clients as an RIA? What did you wish someone would have told you when you were in the exploratory phase? What would you do differently if you were making the transition again? How much faster did you grow after becoming an RIA? What challenges did you face that you didn't expect? Other than a higher overall payout, what efficiencies did you gain?

Depends. Why are you leaving wells? Are you looking to further expand AUM? Are you open to utilizing processes/procedures proven to increase AUM and set you apart from everyone else, or just looking for new platform?

We really do respect and like the folks at Wells Fargo Advisors (clearly the bank itself has had major issues), but it just seems that so much of what takes up our day and slows us down is related to having a Series 7 while over 90% of our business is fee-based. We have a very unique value proposition which lends itself to allow us to bill for consulting services above and beyond financial planning and asset management., but this is not possible currently at WFA. We are interested in continuing to grow our team with talented team members and to acquire other businesses, but both have been very difficult for a number of reasons.

Thank you!

Move to FINET, so you can move 100% of your book without brokers calling on your clients. Then move RIA later.

Move twice? Sounds terrible.

FiNet post must be a WFC person!

FiNet is NOT independence, it's WFC, period.

Hello, what questions are usually asked in a tableau developer interview?

I just completed my first coaching course and I really enjoyed it. I'd like to ask my company to pay for the rest of the curriculum, so I'm curious how I can 1. bring it up to my supervisor 2. frame the benefits I'm receiving as beneficial to my current role and 3. bypass the guilt of knowing that I am using these skills to ultimately leave my role to become an entrepreneur, though not in the next 1-2 years. This is the first request like this I've ever made, though I know this pretty common.

I'm an experienced Generalist/HRBP for an extremely high volume/large org. I have a masters in HROD and SHRM-CP. My role is getting to be more and more transactional by the day, all my strategic projects get pushed to the side by the endless daily fires that are, inevitably, tracking down employees and data entry. I'm actively looking for a new role (preferably Sr generalist etc), but can't seem to stand out among the crowd. Any tips? Louisville, KY.
