Hi Sharks, I am asked to sign the offer letter. It's kind of an agreement between me and the company for accepting the offer and compensation numbers. Of course It doesn't have statments like I have to join the company on signing this. My question is that 1. If I get a better offer can I go and ask them to revise the offer? 2. Can I decide not to join the company? Will there be any legal consequences? Have you ever been asked to sign the offer? Boeing Tata Consultancy Wipro Capgemini Cognizant

Also, they originally posted the job @ 134k. I was an idiot — got caught off-guard — when during the third interview with the CFO, he asked “what is the LOWEST you’ll take.” I said: “I thought the position rate offered was 134k; (pause) but I suppose I would take $120k at the lowest.”
Now, they’re locking me in at that rate — 120k — and won’t budge. In fact, when asked (by my recruiter) if they could meet me halfway or come up a little more, the CEO herself, apparently, said “absolute firm no.” I realize a job is a job — in this difficult job market — so I’m appreciative. However, FMG seems like an “eh” place to work — just judging by how they treat employees (paying a web dev $57 an hour in this climate is pretty bad; especially if you’re asking them to come in every single day. Was getting higher than this rate even 6 years ago) and how seemingly useless the office part of the job is.
Basically looking for *something* good about FMG. Not too much about the workplace life on the internet anywhere.
I'm not sure, but hopefully your first impression hasn't be an indicator of things to come. It sounds like there are a couple of red flags that have gone up so far. Maybe a bit micromanage-y. I hope the 120k was at least a step up from what you were making before but so sorry they did that to you! Companies can be so shrewd about negotiating salaries and making people feel uncomfortable to ask for what they really deserve, or the top of the salary band.
