I accepted a new position that has a title bump and salary increase but am feeling weirdly sad about leaving KPMG. I loved the people I worked with and the firm, but unfortunately just can’t ever seem to get to that next level (despite being rated as performing at the next level two years in a row). Need some feedback! So I was forced to move jobs about 6 months ago due to reorg and the new leader opting to bring their existing EA with them, without even meeting me. If stayed at the company but accepted an offer for a job outside of the department I was in. Keep getting approached by rival firms for ~50% salary increases in London. Raised it with my company and got a 5% raise. Don’t want to sound ungrateful but doesn’t scratch the surface of the underpayment of where I am, it’s well below market rates. Manager hinted at getting an offer which they could counter could help but, I can’t see them matching 45-55% I could get elsewhere. Just got another rejection... Is exiting to FAANG or MB really this hard? Trying to go tech.. or mbb, but not getting anywhere. I have 2 masters (mba, ms) from top schools, been in consulting for over 10 years, I am confident that I know my stuff well..but still I keep getting rejected. Interviewed with Google, Amazon, Cisco, McKinsey, and a few others and every-time there is something that is not a match... are the hiring managers looking for like 100% match? That will never happen!!!

I was just talking to a younger friend who goes to Cal and It seems like the kids these days hate FAANG or at least Amazon and Facebook are not desired at all. I personally don’t see too many issues working at either Amazon or Facebook because I work at Deloitte where I’m sure we have many questionable clients and worked in financial services before. I’m starting my exit from Deloitte after 2 years here doing Salesforce implementations, and about 4 years prior to that of more Salesforce implementations. I’ve realized that I love receiving quick/frequent feedback, I prefer to have my compensation correlate to how hard I work, and like working closely with people. I don’t see myself in my managers shoes or becoming more technical. Any thoughts on roles/paths I should pursue? Any opinions would be very helpful!
