Starting a new job at Applied Materials on Monday as a Manufacturing Engineer III. I’ve been out of college for 5 years and all of my work experience till now has been in R&D for start ups and small businesses . So not only is this a new experience for me going into such a large company but also a industry (semiconductors). Does anybody has tips or advices on what I should expect as a new hire and how I can set myself up for success? Thanks!

What country are you in?
And you’re asking about applying elsewhere or at KPMG? Sorry but your post isn’t very clear. You say salary but partners at KPMG don’t have salary…
I am a former KPMG partner. I was a cash partner but regret not negotiating to be an equity partner. I think you should negotiate for a split of cash and equity (shares). If there is any event or if there is significant earnings upside, you will benefit much more if you are and equity partner. I know of many partners who joined as equity partners. It is absolutely not unfair and shows you understand how the partnership works.
