It is tough to say without looking at your resume and the job posts. However, It is a tough market out there. My wife is currently looking for jobs that is qualified for and is going through the same thing you are. Good luck!
I used Enhancv to improve my resume and cover letter. Definitely recommend it or something similar for ATS checking.
If you’re not already, messaging job posters and hiring managers directly is a must. It seems cliche, but with the market, the best differentiator seems to be showing how badly you want it.
Good luck!
It sounds like you avoided a bad culture.
It's hard to say. The more likely reason is that the job market is really competitive right now. And applications have become such a numbers game. For a lot of jobs, they get literally hundreds of applications. My friend works in human resources and she's constantly baffled at how many people apply. She said they had one job listed that got 800 applicants! So, it's probably not just you, it's probably just how the job market is right now.
Send me your resume, I’ll provide free tweaking and get you better results. Also, I’ll refer you to a couple sales roles that are hiring.
Hi Andrew!
You are extremely kind and generous to help so many. Can I send over my resume as well - if so, how would I do so?
Hope all is well,
I was laid off from a cyber Enterprise AE role due to budget cuts in October of 2023. I signed a new offer three days ago. I applied to over 950 jobs (of which I was from under to far over experienced for) in that time. I had about 10 first interviews total, countless rejections and over 300 no replies. The market is wildly saturated and companies are overwhelmed. A couple things I would advise: treat applications like tinder, over apply and weed them out later. Use a resume builder with an integrated piece that adds AI detectable hot words. Create a website (firstnameLastname.com) that includes all your extra bonus facts and sales background and deals etc, to set you apart. Send videos to recruiters. It’s tough out there. Good luck.
I’VE BEEN THERE! Trust me, I know the feeling. I quit my job in August and I landed a job I like not making a lot of money a week ago and now I landed a great job. The harsh reality is that it might not be a you thing. My advice? Take the first opportunity you get to have some income and keep applying. Timing is everything. GOOD LUCK AND CONTINUE ON!
Is that the Canadian market?
It's how the market is now I think and I don't think it will change. There's apps now that will sent literally 100 applications a day for you to any job online that has certain keywords in it. I read some study that on average every job gets about 300 applications a day. Recruiters get overrun with oftentimes useless applications. Best I can tell you is keep trying
How is it that its such a tough market with the publicized unemployment numbers? I've heard from more than a couple people of companies posting fake jobs as well. Nothing seems real anymore
Same here, I have decided to take a commission only job in the meantime. Still receiving the emails you're getting.
Same here… just moved out here and I’m struggling
Also, a lot of jobs are not hiring. I interviewed in the final round last week, got denied this Monday and today they posted the job again.
This was my case with a company, I think[ logical position], I got an interview after 4 business working day,I got a mail saying the job role was highly competitive, hence I did not qualify for the job, that other candidates have been selected for the next stage of interviews, behold the same job and position was again posted and advertised.
I’ve only gotten through an interview process by knowing the hiring manager, or the recruiter, and personally reaching out on LinkedIn to express interest in the role. Both times got me to final round, second time was an offer. You must network and try to get directly in front of the person who can vouch for you
It doesn't suck, you're just not more qualified than the perceived Grade A candidates who make the cut according to the applicant tracking system's voodoo algorithm.
Got to stand out. I sent a custom video amongst thousands of applicants. No one else did that. I got the job because of creativity. Thats what employers are looking for. You’ve got a lot of competition. It’s not enough to just apply. You need to stand out.
Not only is the job market tough, but if you have “too much” experience that means they’ll have to pay you accordingly. I literally had a HR manager try to negotiate a salary that was already low for someone with my experience.
