Being warm and friendly is great when establishing relationships (I’m known for it too). However, people also find out quickly that even though I can be super easy to work with, I have a spine of steel and am not afraid to debate my position or stand up publicly for what I believe is right.
As someone who has been in marketing most of my career, this is an issue across industries. Especially in consulting and technical fields, there's an underlying, unspoken belief that if you were really smart, you'd be a consultant (or engineer, or software developer). So you automatically start as "less than." My approach was to ignore the worst offenders, work with the ones who were more approachable, and demonstrate value until the skeptics asked for help.
Being pleasant isn't an issue, especially when you align your marketing activities to the business goals and can demonstrate, conclusively that what you do has made a difference (shortened the sales cycle, built awareness of new offerings, opened doors that had been previously closed). You have to be able to measure what you have done and demonstrate how you are furthering business goals.
People like to work with pleasant people, but they value even more people who help them meet their goals.
I've been in this same situation in my current role, which took me over a year, a 6 page documented complaint to HR, two write ups, and a possible EEOC claim to let these people know I'm not playing with yall when I say get off my back. What I don't understand is why worry about my competence? LOOK AT THE NUMBERS. Is the job NOT done? Are we NOT exceeding expectations? Get those microaggressions out of here.
Unfortunately, this is a sign of a discriminatory work culture. Clearly, there are factors other than competence and work product that are guiding their treatment of you—likely sexism and other bias.

It looks like I can’t send one on a personal chat so I’ve included it below. https://calendly.com/terrywestfahl/coaching_course_mapping
I’m curious what feedback were you given when laid off? Are there some clues there? No on here knows you or has personal experience with you so it’s hard to give helpful advice.
Also curious where you read that? Situations are never that straightforward.
What feedback have you been given? Sometimes it’s just bad luck as marketing is usually first to get axed when companies need to downsize - and that might not be your fault at all but larger factors about how the company was run. It sounds like you think being warm is resulting in your situation. I’m not certain that’s the case. I do think trying to change yourself to fit in seems generally to result in misery. Do you have peers you have worked with who can give you some feedback? Most MBA and leadership programs start with a standard list of questions that the student sends to peers and family to get feedback. I am happy to share that list with you if it helps.
