Think they did a good job on this piece. It was a truly embarrassing moment for the firm, but I think it’s being handled as well as can be expected. Should go smoothly this year 🤞

Either you play the game or the game plays you. In my experience it’s not much more than being deliberate and proactive about making sure you have the right relationships internally with people that matter.
I cast a wide net at first see what I can gather and then slowly determine who is my network of who I will be building up and who I will rely on to help me be built up. Everyone is part of it. It is just about finding who you like and trust to surround yourself with. I have also learned not to say everything on my mind.
This is good advice on not saying everything on your mind. That is definitely something I need to learn
As always, do the best work you can, stick to business, develop relationships with the people that you can, learn and grow as much as you can. Be the best that you can be so that you have a network to help you in future years and the talent to move to another company on your terms.
Figure out which side is gonna win, then join that side.
Make sure you have the right relationships as much as you make sure you don't have the wrong relationships

There are good mentors and people who can really help your career. Talk to peers and find out who those people are and volunteer to work for them.
There are also other folks and well, I’m sure their mother loves them, bless their hearts, but you need to do everything possible to avoid working for the toxic ones. If you cannot get away and it’s bad enough, change your location, firm, or which industry you specialize in. Life is too short to work for some people.
So some examples are seeing people trying to steal revenue from others to push themselves or their group forward, lack of professional courtesy in relation to things like budgeting, quasi faction alignment in the sentiment of blind agreement with upper management vs opposition to it.
I have my own thoughts on how to stay out of the politics bs but interested on the conversation with others on how you do it
