I am in govt consulting and we have been having way more evening and weekend work outside of normal hours, including last minute... I keep a really full schedule outside of work. Single mom, active in my community, etc. I'm thinking it might be time for me to start looking into other industries where I can predict when I have to work after hours, or ideally not at all. I am only 2 years into my career and have only been in this industry. What industries are more family friendly??

Where do you find the time to get everything done in the day when you have multiple partners, associates and equity partners that interrupt you and want things turned around immediately while simultaneously working on deadlines? I feel like I’m the only one that can’t manage a 70+ case load without letting someone down. I constantly have to say “Can I do this tomorrow?” Etc. I don’t even have time to bill on the clock. I work until 7p at least every night. Top 10 family law firm.

I am trying to write a stock letter to send to parents everyday that their child does not come to virtual learning sessions. I have been told by administration that even though I have spoken to parents and know why students are not coming to zoom classes, that we still need to contact them everytime they dont come. For some of my students this is everyday due to parent work schedules and disability issues.

Am I tripping? Everyone loves calling my daughter (2 months) "lil chocolate drop" or "look at all that chocolate". I love my daughter's complexion, not only because it's mine, but because it's beautiful. However, I can't help but feeling like ppl "other" or make it weird by avoiding saying dark. Calling her dark is acceptable and appreciated. I know "chocolate" comes from a place of affection, but I just can't embrace it 💯.

I’ve always been a big saver minimum 15% to maxing out my 401k since I graduated college. I’m married to someone who thinks 6% is enough and likes $$$ cars. Other than the cars, they dont really spend money. For the married 🐠, how do you have the conversation with them that what they are doing isn’t enough? I try to guide them and say you want the $$$ cars but the salary you have won’t get there and you’re going to have to find a job that gets them the salary…. Then the fight starts.

So I have been seeing a guy for 4 months. We have a pay disparity.. he earns less than I do (by quite a bit). He has mentioned a few times that he’s worried I’ll get bored of him when I know he can’t afford the same things I can. I think we are beginning to move past this, but now he’s starting to mention things like ‘I am really broke this month’, and last weekend he told me his mum has lost her job and he’ll have to probably pay her rent. So is the fixed amount my gross salary without any other deduction except TDS, or will the organisation contribution to PF be also deducted from the fixed component?
