Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

Brian and Martha are both rainmaker partners. That's why they had the gig in the first place.
Never send a partner to do a senior associates job
At big 4, when shit hits the fan - nobody takes ownership, especially at the higher levels. In this case, there are no staff to blame so the entire firm takes the hit.
What baffles me is how they are such influential partners yet conpletely froze under pressure. They even had a protocol for what to do in that scenario
They fucked up PwC's most public engagement on national TV and nearly ended a 75 year relationship. In what world does that not get you fired?
They were well known (of their own doing) well before the statement. They'll be fine, just bruised egos.
What BCG Said. Firing partners isn't easy, especially for not breaking the law
What I don't understand is why Brian or Martha haven't made at least an internal statement to the firm. I'm based out of LA and it's been dead silent. Sure Tim Ryan made a statement publicly and then followed with an internal email but nothing from Brian or Martha. Sure the firm owned the mistake but no apology from the actual guilty party. Makes no sense. ??
Honestly, the Oscars should have immediately gone the magnanimous route. "PWC has been a trusted partner for 83 years. Despite this unfortunate mistake, we trust them going forward and will work with them to ensure nothing like this happens again. " Bryan and Martha still would have gotten the boot, but we could have all stopped talking about it a week ago. Shit happens.
witch-hunting? seriously?
See my earlier post about Monica Lewinsky and her being publicly and repeatedly crucified. Forgive and move on. No one died, hell, no one was even hurt. The Academy, Kimmel and everyone involved have gotten more free press in the past week than if one of the actresses had had a wardrobe malfunction. It was an error, they'll never work the Oscars again, move on.
Nothing to see here folks. Keep moving.
They still threw them under the bus by publicly naming them in their official statement
Star1 they didn't name them, news orgs had their names public way before PwC had a chance to know what happened
@d1 c'mon dude, everyone's human. They can't shit on SM/M/C any longer for making a mistake, they lost that right.
I think the approach they took is the right one. No reason for a groveling mea culp from the individuals. I am sure both have apologized to individual stakeholders on the client side.
P5 You should read the perspective of the stage manager. Certainly paints Martha and Brian in a very poor light
It is like any client but just very public. They screwed up and got rolled off. They took their eye off the ball and broke their contracted SOW.
They should have known better but they have been penalized enough. This will be over and their practice will resume as normal after a short time.
No way will those Partners be allowed to make statements unilaterally. PR along with our external PR firm are now 100% running the show (of course subject to Tim's approval and others he's consulting on the USLT). Pretty standard crisis management. I'm sure there was a strategy deck being developed by our PR team and/or agency within an hour of the event. As part of this, Brian and Martha would be directly told what they can and cannot say/do.
I think Brian should've resigned
And lost a couple big entertainment accounts? No way. Seppuku not required here.
