Hey Fishbowl family - anyone working at EY-Parthenon that would be willing to chat with me about their experiences (with the potential of a referral)? I have total of 5 yoe specifically in Life Sciences and really would like to explore the potential of interviewing for their NY office. I have been able to land interviews/offers from other T2 firms but would really love to network and connect with EYP. EY EY-Parthenon

I beat a 45 day PIP too. It drained me and I felt used cos I felt like I couldn’t turn down projects during that period, so I was totally stretched almost to breaking point. But I survived! Started looking outside too during that time and now I have an amazing offer with a promo and 40% raise. Leaving next week. It all worked out.
Yup actually interviewing for a role with a dream company right now (and potentially dream role). Gotta go where you're wanted.

Speak your wisdom, oh slayer of the PIP
Chief
You did way more than the bowl leader of “surviving a pip” bowl!
Shots fired!
Not being sarcastic. Why would you WANT to beat a PIP? I feel like if I got one I’d for sure be looking to leave even if it took a while. Your employer doesn’t want you.
Like @PwC1 said I didn't have anything lined up and PIP was a complete surprise.
I objectively wasn't performing that poorly but me and my Manager's working styles did not gel together and he thought I was lazy essentially.
There was virtually no way I was going to get a new job in 30 days so I figured I'd try and beat it and spend the time after the PIP applying to other jobs while getting paid.
If it was a 60/90 day PIP I probably wouldn't have bothered.
How? Level and practice?
I actually left EY I'm at Publicis Sapient right now. Honestly first I used AI to help A LOT.
There are two types of PIPs. CYA and PIPs where you have a shot of turning it around. CYA (cover your ass) are basically PIPs that are given by companies when you're not necessarily performing poorly but the company needs to cut people for whatever reason and they claim you're underperforming to kick you out.
I gave chatgpt my entire scenario and chatgpt essentially told me that this seemed more of a beatable PIP. Especially since my career coach was supportive and candid with me that my manager wants to see improvement and this isn't just a formality. That gave me some hope.
The things I needed to improve also didn't seem impossible and like I said in another comment, this was more about different styles in working than my actual work.
So I buckled up, took the feedback seriously, and essentially changed my working style for 30 days to fit my manager's. I documented every single way I was improving against the PIP and sent daily EOD updates to both my manager and my coach and a weekly EOW update to both of them with HR cc'ed. Chatgpt was very helpful with the updates and helping me map all the actions, tasks, and deliverables I completed to each pip improvement area. So I didn't have to do nearly as much work proving I was meeting PIP goals.
I also was wayyy more vocal and annoying about what I was doing on a day to day even hour to hour basis.
It was tiring and a lot of stress but I'm a pretty optimistic person and I beat it. Now I'm looking for a new role. Getting the pip left a sour taste in my mouth because I had told my coach and manager I had a close family member (my parent) in the hospital and I may need to attend to it at times a week before they put my on a PIP. I can't trust them anymore.
Why were you on a PIP
Yea bro I had even told my manager a week prior that I had a close family member (I didn't divulge but it was one of my parents) in hospital so I may need to attend to that from time to time. A week later I'm on a PIP, like I really thought this guy was the devil.
A 30 day pip is wild.
How did you celebrate
Lol I didn't just started applying to new roles with less stress.
