Have an offer at Citi for 120K as an AVP in the NY office. Currently making 92K at my current role. Is this a fair offer? I currently WFH pretty much full time at my current role but it seems like this one requires 2-3 days in the office - and this is something I’m very hesitant about. Thoughts on how to approach this?

As a engineer , we all multi task in 2025.
The job market is garbage and the reigning philosophy du jure is “do more with less.”
Employers have all the power and they know it. They’ll post a position that is really three jobs in one and pay 20-30 percent below market because they know people are desperate and will take it.
They also know that if an applicant tries to negotiate a higher salary (or raise, in your case), they can either rescind the offer or keep kicking the can down the road.
Why? Because they know there are 10,000 others waiting in the wings who will gladly take the job because they’ll be glad just to have an income again. People who are desperate and “need this job” tend not to ask too many questions and won’t rock the boat out of fear of getting fired.
This is why you now see far fewer legitimate job postings. And the jobs that do exist have job responsibilities and requirements that are a mile long because they’re actually multiple roles combined into one.
For example, my job is as a communications specialist. In the old days, my job focused primarily on things like press releases, blog posts, internal and external corporate communications, announcements, with occasional PR/media relations, and crisis communication.
Today? It’s all of that, PLUS website maintenance, SEO, marketing copy, social media management, email marketing, graphic design, photography, video editing, and project management.
Just a few years ago, those were all separate roles. We had a copywriter, SEO specialist, email automation specialist, social media coordinator, graphic designer, media specialist (photo/video), and project manager. That’s seven different jobs. They’re all gone now, and their job responsibilities are now all mine, in addition to my own core duties.
And the kicker? I didn’t get a single cent raise.
Get your resume ready and look for a position elsewhere.
Its 2025, im currently running 4 positions. As SET1 said... try working in the engineering field instead of finance. Multitasking above and beyond what any human should ever do is just an expectation of our industry.
Right now employers are willing to self harm before they give someone a salary they can afford. Its a power game not a make good sense game. I would still ask if theres a plan for the future to help you out. It doesn't have to be tense just a normal firendly convo.
I was in this position and got effectively “demoted” by a new manager (changed my title) who came in after I took on a previous manager’s role. Well I took them to court for sex discrimination got a huge paycheck and got a new job. P.S. he demoted all the women in the team and gave the males all the managerial roles - finance ay
Lol. Join a Union or apply elsewhere. They get to load you up with the "other duties as assigned," phrase in your position description...
Companies know that employees are less likely to leave in a job market that is this bad, and they have no problem taking advantage. They have made it clear that they aren't going to give you what you are very reasonably asking for. I would start job hunting.
I’d start looking elsewhete
Leverage them on your cv and get a better paying job - that’s what I did! After asking them to review my salary didn’t work
