Hi Fishes
I would like to know about the client interviews (especially in data science or machine learning roles).
Are these interviews tough?
Are these interviews meant to assess technical knowledge? For example, what is binomial distribution, what are different data structures in python, ml algorithms etc.
I would request each of the nagarrians to share their thoughts irrespective of the technologies you are working.
I am thankful to you for taking time and helping me out.

Same thing happened to me. They sent me a notice 4am saying they went with someone else. Thank God I kept looking. I would definitely still look.
Sounds excessive in my opinion. I see many situations like this and the position gets reposted again and again . I hope I am wrong and that you are hired and happy
That would be my first question. Do you still want this job when they are ghosting you at this point? I realize things come up, but taking a moment to reply to an email shouldn't be that big of a deal. Maybe you ate seeing a personality trait that isn't too good. Take a step back and examine the character of the individual. Is this someone you would want to work for given this experience? If so then press on. But I would have some alarms going off.
In my experience from September ‘22 - Feb ‘23 when I was applying to dozens of jobs and interviewing constantly, when I was in your situation that you describe (happened 3 times to me, where I was essentially done interviewing and waiting for a response), if the employer took longer than a week to reach out, the next correspondence I got was being informed that the company had frozen hiring (this was all in the tech industry). Not sure where you’re applying, but keep going with other companies.
Keep interviewing with other companies. Until you have a firm offer you don’t have anything. Companies have a process they need to go through and adding headcount in this environment is under tremendous scrutiny. There could be a myriad of reasons why you haven’t heard back. Don’t keep emailing - one email showing your interest and thanking them for their time is all you need. Anything extra sounds desperate. Move on and good luck on your search!
If they really wanted you….they would have made sure you knew or at minimum kept you informed. There could be an explanation for their lack of response after two weeks….you could reach out to one of the other people you interviewed with to see if they hired someone else, removed the job opening, or something else. I must have you ask yourself…do you really want a job where someone does not reply to you after 5 interviews and over 2 weeks ago…..everyone deserves better then that!
Sounds like it is a company you may not want to be associated with. The response should have been we are still considering you or not considering you for the position.
I would say move on and let it be their loss.
Maybe the Company postponed filling the position due to budget cuts and are going to still fill it at a later date. Sometimes budget cuts come from out of nowhere and the hiring managers are caught by surprise. Maybe approach him or her with that possibility and see if they respond back so at least you aren’t kept in the dark.
That’s about normal but I would think the lines of communication would be open to keep you abreast of the process. Also keep in mind that companies are looking for the right candidate, meaning they want to make sure that you fit within the culture of the company.
If I were you, keep looking and don’t put all your eggs in one basket. GL!
Keep interviewing. Sometimes HR take their time to make a choice; but you can’t stop for anyone. You, do you! I’m sure their considering you as a possible candidate with other candidates as well. But keep cool, mind set cool and eyes on the prize: a new position with better pay and better opportunities for you and your loved ones.

I also like to end when I am interviewed m by asking what the next steps and time line look like. That way if they say 3 weeks you’ll hear something then you know at 2 weeks that nothing is wrong and they are right on schedule.
Were the interviews with different levels of people in the company? Are you using a service to help find a job? Others are right 5 interviews seems to much unless you going thru a service. Then you have to talk to them then the company people to. But after all that you definitely deserve better then ghosted. Good luck I hope you get a job that treats you with respect. Right now they aren't showing you any.
Thank you. The interviews started with the hiring manger then moved up the management chain. My point of contact is the hiring manager who has ghosted me. I reached out to the HR manager and she said they are still in the interview process!
Keep looking, but in todays climate it could be a variety of things - the hiring manager or recruiter may have been let go, they may have restructured and there us a new hiring manager, etc. Is there someone else you can reach out to to follow up?
I just reached out to the HR manager and she responded they are still in the interview process. The hiring manager never responded to me. Thanks!
Do you have all the various managers names you interviewed with? By them taking your time to be interviewed (see what I did there?), you have earned the right to pick up the phone and contact them. Quite often you will get greater clarity from these folks over the phone. If you have your future manager's info call them directly. Either way you will know where you stand. Good luck!
Thank you! I was interviewing with the hiring manager and followed up with him a few times for an update but he’s never responded. Still waiting!
Don't wait for it. five weeks without reply is too much. If you have interviews with other companies, go for it. Send as many applications as you can for more chances of getting interviewed.
That is extremely rude and inconsiderate and my feelings have alway been to make them give me an answer. I would pick up the phone and call the hiring manager. You deserve the courtesy and respect after devoting so much time interviewing.
Thank you! I was interviewing with the hiring manager and wrote him a few times for a follow up. He’s never responded!

More gibberish. Clemson must be so proud.
Bail as quick as you can. huge red flags with interviews taking forever, no email responses
(not enough time for them?) Seems to me you'll be forgotten about within the first month.
you still got courtesy on your side no matter what. fuck those dudes.
Low, when a company goes silent it means you are not the top candidate
