I don’t even know how to start this. I guess “I need industry friends with kids” is a good start. My 4yo is struggling to make friends because he doesn’t engage unless someone engages with him first (ugh, he got that from me AND my husband😩). I feel like life would be easier if I had play dates, but all other parents I see feel unapproachable to me (👋🏼introvert) I’m thinking maybe having that “advertising” common ground can help both me and my child make friends. Anyone relate? Anyone in NY?🙈

Anyone have any experience with the “spousal equivalent” question at Ernst and Young or other big 4? I live with my girlfriend but we aren’t married and I don’t want to have to report or monitor her personal finances as it’s none of my business yet (although I am loosely aware of where she stands). What is the answer here and why can they even begin to ask about these things?

What are some good child care options for single parents? Have a toddler that is in preschool, but need to think about child care after school. Currently have my parents helping out with the child care, but they are not a long-term solution. Don’t know what my options are… especially when I have to travel in the future. Thinking about au pair as it seems like a cost effective solution, but wondering what other options are?

I used to get 2-3 productive hours after the kids went to bed to catch up on work, chores, shopping, etc but now I'm struggling to have any motivation after the hour-long process of getting kids down.

Partners with kids and a working spouse, how do you manage? Is it realistic for both people in the relationship to work full time long term? How do you keep marriage going and career progressing?

My marriage is beyond repair I think. Husband just said we keep having the same conversations over and over in the past year about things we’ve been trying to fix. Is a year enough time? 11 years together for reference. And I don’t think his statement is true - he literally mentioned one of those things last week that he was happy about. I just can’t do it with these vague statements in arguments.

How do I figure out spending with my SO? Initially I was paying for 90% of stuff (no actual bills, just going out). I talked to her and said we need to be more even. She was never proactive. She kind of got offended but we ended on a good note to split things. It went well for a couple weeks but now it's back to normal. She never takes out her card and only venmos me if I send her the request. She lets Venmos sit for weeks before paying them. I still let a lot of things slide.

Has anyone cheated on their partner, felt horrible from the guilt, confessed to them and then managed to still save the relationship? Or is cheating something no one gets over ever?

I have a governmental entity client in Texas that wants to offer 6 weeks of paid parental leave for all employees, even those who aren’t eligible for FMLA. After the paid 6 weeks, the employee can choose to continue paid leave using any accrued personal leave.

Texas does not have a paid parental leave statute.

If paid leave above what is required is offered for parents, do we also have to provide the same benefit to other employees that are eligible for unpaid leave?

I am mainly working with shops in the States as a non-native speaker and I am constantly worried about my ability to communicate (in any professional occasion but mostly in meetings). I am working with some of the best shops and this makes the situation worse considering that I am largely surrounded by an extremely competent group of folks that are super good at any form of communication. How do you feel as a native speaker when you meet non-natives? Should they be worried, or, they doing ok?

I was wondering if the review course “CPE Self Study Course” for the CFF was enough preparation to study and pass the CFF exam. The CFE review course was enough and like if you get a question wrong it explains it well so that when it comes up in a different way in the real exam you can still get it. But when I saw the outline for the CFF material and there seems to be a lot of topics so I was wondering if the review course was sufficient considering this exam is also multiple choice. Thanks!
